Romain Spailier is trading Belgian club KSK Tongeren this summer for a new chapter in his football career at Jacksonville University. The left-footed midfielder is looking forward to continuing his athletic and personal development in the United States.
Romain began playing football at the age of five with his local club Charneux. His talent was quickly recognized, and he moved to RCS Verviers. After four seasons, he transferred to RFC Liège, where he developed into an important player. He became champion with the U17 team, and in his first year with the U21s, they repeated that success. During the 2021–2022 season, he was vice-captain of the U21 team and played no fewer than 28 official matches. Romain then made the move to KSK Tongeren, where he was immediately included in the first team. Over the course of three seasons, he played 71 official matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists. His consistent dedication and performance made him a key player.
Off the field, Romain is known for being calm, friendly, and loyal. He enjoys helping others and values genuine connections. In new situations, he may be a bit reserved at first, but his perseverance and ambition make him a real go-getter. On the field, he excels in game intelligence, ball control, and composure. He plays simply and efficiently, always thinking one step ahead. Romain is a natural leader and transitions well between defense and attack.
Starting next season, Romain will be part of the Jacksonville University team, located on the east coast of Florida. The university is known for its competitive sports culture and strong athletic programs. At Jacksonville, Romain joins the Men’s Soccer team, where he’ll compete against schools like Louisville University and Dayton University. With Romain, the team gains an experienced, physically strong, and tactically smart player.
We wish Romain the best of luck and enjoyment in this exciting step of his career!
